Getting started & your weekly routine - the TL:DR

  1. Acquire $B3TR
    • Earn through dApp interactions
    • Purchase from supported exchanges
      • Current central exchanges can be found here
  2. Set Up Voting
    • Choose a voting method (see below)
    • For manual voting: Convert B3TR→VOT3 via VeBetterDAO
    • For automatic voting: Deposit B3TR to chosen system
  3. Maintain Eligibility
    • Complete ≥3 Better Actions per 12-week period
  4. Participate Weekly
    • Monitor snapshot timing (~23:59 UTC Sundays)
    • Vote before round ends

Galaxy Membership (GM NFT)

The first time you vote you will unlock a galaxy membership (GM) NFT. This nft is your ticket to vote. The first level, 1, is the Earth nft.

Higher levels can either be:

The earth level has no impact on rewards. Moon (level 2) and above reward you with a share of the GM NFT pool with your weekly voting rewards.

  • Free voting access
  • No additional rewards

Tier 2+: Moon & Beyond

  • Share in weekly GM NFT reward pool
  • Upgrade options:
    • Donate B3TR to DAO treasury
    • Hold Vechain Strength Node (or higher) for free upgrade

Weekly Voting Cycle

Snapshot Mechanism

  • Occurs weekly after ~23:59 UTC Sunday
  • Records VOT3 balance for voting power
  • Key rules:
    • Convert B3TR→VOT3 1:1 via official channels only
    • DEX conversions are incompatible
    • Timing may vary slightly week-to-week

Proof of Participation

  • Requirement: 3 Better Actions within last 12 rounds
  • Same actions that earn B3TR count toward eligibility

Voting Methods

1. VeBetterDAO (Manual)

  • Features:
    • 100% voting rewards
    • Full quadratic voting impact
    • Requires personal wallet
  • Process:
    • Manual B3TR→VOT3 conversion
    • Manual voting
    • Manual reward claims
  • Restrictions:
    • Incompatible with VeDelegate normal voting
    • No locking requirements

2. VeDelegate Normal

  • Features:
    • 90% voting rewards (10% delegate fee)
    • Full quadratic voting impact
    • Uses personal wallet
  • Automation:
    • Snapshot handling
    • Voting execution
    • Reward distribution
  • Restrictions:
    • Incompatible with VeBetterDAO voting

3. VeDelegate Lock2Earn

  • Features:
    • 90% base rewards + bonus yields
    • Full quadratic voting impact
    • Supports up to 3 wallets (1 per term)
  • Locking:
    • 28-364 day terms
  • Automation:
    • Full process automation
  • Compatibility:
    • Works with other methods

4. VeStation

Reheat's note

VeStation was delisted from VBD following a successful proposal and have not yet implemented the GM NFT changes implemented in round 46 . Further, you can not set your own vote preference. I would recommend any other voting method.

  • Features:
    • 90% base rewards + GM NFT pool share
    • Minimal voting influence
    • Shared wallet system
  • Automation:
    • Full process automation
  • Flexibility:
    • No locking
    • Compatible with other methods

Quadratic Voting System

  • Core principle: Many small voters > few large voters
  • Example:
    • 1000 wallets with 10 VOT3 > 10 wallets with 1000 VOT3
  • Implementation varies by voting method

Weekly Voting Workflow

  1. Pre-Snapshot:
    • Manual voters: Convert B3TR→VOT3
    • Automatic voters: Ensure sufficient B3TR deposit
  2. Voting Period:
    • Manual: Submit votes before round ends
    • Automatic: Votes execute per system rules
  3. Post-Voting:
    • Manual: Claim rewards
    • Automatic: Rewards distribute automatically
  4. Maintenance:
    • Complete required Better Actions
    • Monitor for next snapshot

Key Reminders

  • VOT3 used for voting remains yours forever
  • Rewards compound with consistent participation
  • All methods require active participation (3 Better Actions/12 rounds)
  • Official conversion portals only (no DEX swaps)
